The Affair: A Four Week Experiment in Love Posted: 19 Sep 2011 06:30 AM PDT The Affair: A Four Week Experiment in Love by Chad Leslie Peters Paul is a tenured professor at a fabled California University who has hit a brick wall of personal and professional dissatisfaction. He decides to change his life forever by embarking on a unique sexual adventure that he hopes will clarify a number of personal issues. In the University cafeteria he meets Cara, a beautiful, young graduate student who is at a sexual crossroads of her own. Restless, curious and always open to new and unexpected experiences, Cara listens intently as Paul explains his fascinating and remarkable proposal. He explains that he wishes to ‘explore the real possibilities of an affair – not of the heavy-heart and sweet romance variety, but of the flesh; a theme of desire and unbridled sexual satisfaction; a theme absent the peripheral complexities and deepest emotions.’ For the past few weeks, he has carefully mapped out his strategies. The objective: he will find a stranger – a young woman no more than 22 or 23 years of age – who will agree to connect in a pre-arranged four week sexual affair. The two lovers will keep detailed records of their deepest private thoughts in journals of their experiences and these experiences will be shared only at the close of the affair – and only with one another. ‘I hope to gather evidence for the affair through experiences and through interpretation of those experiences,’ he tells her. ‘In this way, I anticipate breaking some kind of new ground. I would very much like you to help me with this project.’ The Affair reveals the graphic story of this four week encounter between the celebrated professor and his enthusiastic young student. It is brutally honest, occasionally heartbreaking and always fascinating.

The Economic Geography of Globalization by Piotr Pachura Very often the process of globalization is referred the word economy evolution. Often we measure and study globalization in the economic relevance. The economy is possibly the most recognized dimension of globalization. That is why we see many new phenomena and processes on economic macro levels and economic sectoral horizons as well as on specific ‘geography of globalization’. The book The Economic Geography of Globalization consists of 13 chapters divided into two sections: Globalization and Macro Process and Globalization and Sectoral Process. The Authors of respective chapters represent the great diversity of disciplines and methodological approaches as well as a variety of academic culture. This book is a valuable contribution and it will certainly be appreciated by a global community of scholars.
New Knowledge in a New Era of Globalization by Piotr Pachura To better understand the contemporary world, the world of innovation and technology, science should try to synthesize and assimilate social science in the development of our civilization. Does the new era require new knowledge? Does the age of globalization demand new education, new human attitudes? This books tries to clarify these questions. The book New Knowledge in a New Era of Globalization consists of 16 chapters divided into three sections: Globalization and Education; Globalization and Human Being; Globalization and Space. The Authors of respective chapters represent a great diversity of disciplines and methodological approaches as well as a variety of academic culture. This book is a valuable contribution and it will certainly be appreciated by a global community of scholars.
Microwave Heating by Usha Chandra The Microwave heating has not only revolutionized the food industry but also has extended its wings widely towards its multidimensional applications. Thus it has opened new vistas of potential research in science and technology. The book is compiled into Seventeen Chapters highlighting different aspects varying from epistemological discussion to applicability of conceptual constructs. The inclusion of discussion on the avenues in the field of Chemistry, Health & Environment, Medical Sciences and Technology makes it an exquisite work for the aspirant Researchers. As the text book for the beginners, it is designed fundamentally to be a reference monograph to the experts providing a passage for future research. The plethora of literatures are available on Microwave Applications but they seldom direct their readers to concentrate on the key aspects behind the success in microwave applications in different fields. Here is the attempt to fill up the gap with this book.
Nanocomposites and Polymers with Analytical Methods by John Cuppoletti This book contains 16 chapters. In the first part, there are 8 chapters describing new materials and analytic methods. These materials include chapters on gold nanoparticles and Sol-Gel metal oxides, nanocomposites with carbon nanotubes, methods of evaluation by depth sensing, and other methods. The second part contains 3 chapters featuring new materials with unique properties including optical non-linearities, new materials based on pulp fibers, and the properties of nano-filled polymers. Scientific and Engineering Applications Using MATLAB by Emilson Pereira Leite The purpose of this book is to present 10 scientific and engineering works whose numerical and graphical analysis were all constructed using the power of MATLAB® tools. The first five chapters of this book show applications in seismology, meteorology and natural environment. Chapters 6 and 7 focus on modeling and simulation of Water Distribution Networks. Simulation was also applied to study wide area protection for interconnected power grids (Chapter and performance of conical antennas (Chapter 9). The last chapter deals with depth positioning of underwater robot vehicles. Therefore, this book is a collection of interesting examples of where this computational package can be applied.
New Frontiers in Tectonic Research – General Problems, Sedimentary Basins and Island Arcs by Evgenii V. Sharkov This book is devoted to different aspects of tectonic research. Syntheses of recent and earlier works, combined with new results and interpretations, are presented in this book for diverse tectonic settings. Most of the chapters include up-to-date material of detailed geological investigations, often combined with geophysical data, which can help understand more clearly the essence of mechanisms of different tectonic processes. Some chapters are dedicated to general problems of tectonics. Another block of chapters is devoted to sedimentary basins and special attention in this book is given to tectonic processes on active plate margins.
New Frontiers in Tectonic Research – At the Midst of Plate Convergence by Uri Schattner Ocean closure involves a variety of converging tectonic processes that reshape shrinking basins, their adjacent margins and the entire earth underneath. Following continental breakup, margin formation and sediment accumulation, tectonics normally relaxes and the margins become passive for millions of years. However, when final convergence is at the gate, the passive days of any ocean and its margins are over or soon will be. The fate of the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf is seemingly known beforehand, as they are nestled in the midst of Africa-Arabia plate convergence with Eurasia. Over millions of years through the Cenozoic era they progressively shriveled, leaving only a glimpse of the Tethys Ocean. Eventually, the basins will adhere to the Alpine-Himalaya orogen and dissipate. This book focuses on a unique stage in the ocean closure process, when significant convergence already induced major deformations, yet the inter-plate basins and margins still record the geological history.
Telemedicine Techniques and Applications by Georgi Graschew and Stefan Rakowsky Telemedicine is a rapidly evolving field as new technologies are implemented for example for the development of wireless sensors, quality data transmission.
