The Polish Experience

Globalization led to the end of the Cold war. Russia and America no longer had an appetite to destroy each other’s interests.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall Europe opened its arms to former Soviet countries and in 2004 the European Union welcomed nine new countries into its group.

The borders were open and Western Europeans feared a flood of Eastern European immigrants. The Eastern Europeans should have been worried about the flow of Western Europeans into their countries.

A young arrogant womanizing English salesman is sent to Poland to establish a call centre.

As he discovers the differences in cultural and business, he falls in love with a Polish woman.

James and Elly meet under dubious circumstances but she helped him out of a jam he was more than willing to repay the favour. He pursues her affections and starts to realize that there is more to the World than Yorkshire.

Will her deeply Catholic family accept him into their hearts?

Will there relationship survive the bumps that come their way?

The Last Simple

A parody/homage to the modern thriller style, including ridiculously short chapters, chapter changes that don’t change location, plot or subject and incredibly unbelievable plots as mastered by Dan Brown and other authors (including myself to some degree). Here’s the blurb:

Bradford knows he’s the lead in a third rate parody. However, his ambition is to be the lead in a Dan Brown story, but doesn’t know if he has to dumb up or down for the gig.

In ‘the Last Simple’, Bradford, a professor of Simpology from Harvard, follows clues left by the illiterati, ignoranti and even the bingoranti as he tries to track down the kidnapper of Lord Bartholomew. Aided by Lord Bartholomew’s daughter, Lady Bartholomew, and her loathsome manservant Belsen, Bradford has to evade arrest by not one, but two Buffoons of a Copper while bouncing around the renowned cultural centres of Northern England, from Lincoln Cathedral to Blackpool Tower.

Aided by Surly Teabing, the rudest man in England, while dodging Teabing’s servant Snivell, Bradford finds himself in a race against time, logic, bad jokes, ridiculous puns and awful gags as he searches for the Last Simple in an improbable if unbelievable storyline.

This a laugh a minute book, assuming you’re a very fast reader.

Includes the Christmas Special and at least one deleted chapter (the one that can still be read – the others were, er, deleted).

Warning – contains flash photography (actually it doesn’t, I just wanted to say that as it sounds cool on the news)
