Posted: 17 Apr 2011 08:21 AM PDT Reunion For the Venia Law Keeper, Marise, returning home isnt something she wants to do, but duty dictates that she must answer Lord Timurs call for assistance and investigate the attempt on his life by a vampire. Faced with her old home, she tries hard to suppress the memories it evokes, of happier times in the arms of her ex-lover, Jascha, and of the darker times with him that led to her leaving. She puts the atmosphere and looks she receives down to fear from the attempt to kill Timur, but when she lays eyes on her lord, she realises that it may be for another reason and that the attacker may not have been a vampire after all. Left with only one other source of information, a guard injured in the attack to a point beyond recovery and left to remain awaiting death, she decides to question him before he dies and then get the hell out of there.Only when she sees that the dying guard is Jascha, she begins a battle with her heart that will see her struggle to turn her back on Jascha and her family again, and maintain her sense of duty. Is fifty years enough to forgive the one you love for breaking your heart? Will Marise finally confess to everything shes held inside and kept hidden from him? Get Up! (A 12-Step Guide to Recovery for Misfits, Freaks & Weirdos) Posted: 17 Apr 2011 08:11 AM PDT Get Up! (A 12-Step Guide to Recovery for Misfits, Freaks & Weirdos) A powerful and entertaining guide for anyone who wants to understand recovery. As an atheist with a background in fundamentalism, Bucky Sinister was skeptical of 12-step groups when the time came for him to get sober. He was afraid of losing his artistic abilities and had big problems with the higher power concept. In spite of his hesitations, he stuck with the program and it rewarded him greatly. In Get Up, he shares the knowledge he gained on his journey, from being afraid of AA philosophies to embracing them, motivating others to join him in their own efforts to get clean. Sinister, a spoken word artist, poet, and performer, well-known on the West Coast for his grabbing, truthful, funny performances, puts out his own story, no frills, no excuses, and no holds barred. He offers a tough-love approach to recovery for all those, like him, who are turned off by traditional recovery books.

Teach Us To Live: Stories from Hiroshima and Nagasaki Posted: 17 Apr 2011 08:06 AM PDT Teach Us To Live: Stories from Hiroshima and Nagasaki Survivors of Hiroshima give eye-witness accounts in narrative, poetry and picture and plead for peace and disarmament. We have all grown up on stories. Some begin with ‘Once upon a time’ and end with ‘happily ever after.’ The hibakusha – survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki – are asking us to hear their stories. These stories do not end ‘happily ever after.’ Rather, they are threaded through with sorrow, with chaos and ugliness. But the time has come for us to try to listen. And in learning about their experiences, we can learn about ourselves and help shape our world with new hope for peace and understanding.

Posted: 17 Apr 2011 07:56 AM PDT Buhuki Buhuki was a baby monkey. He was the only baby in the family. His mother and father loved him very much. When he was very young, he clung to his mother’s belly, as they traveled. When his mother jumped from tree to tree, he held on tight. Sometimes, he fell asleep along the way. As he grew older, he went with his father, riding on his shoulder. His father taught him how to jump from one tree to another, and how to clutch the branches, to keep from falling. He learnt it all very quickly, just like his father. His mother and father were very proud of their son.

Thy Will Be Done: Sickness, Faith, and the God Who Heals Posted: 17 Apr 2011 07:36 AM PDT Thy Will Be Done: Sickness, Faith, and the God Who Heals In a world where medical advances seem to promise cures for everything, its tempting to believe that we can live free of pain. But we know that even the best medicine cannot forestall death and decay, or solve the riddles of mental and emotional illness. All of us will get sick, and all of us will die. How, then, to respond to the inevitability of suffering? And how to help those who live in fear of disease; people who spend their waking hours worrying about what the doctor said, or asking God to remove real or perceived burdens? With childlike confidence in the possibility of miracles and a deep trust that the Creator is supremely wise and good, the Blumhardts point us away from our woes and to Jesus. As the Great Physician, he offers lasting comfort and healing without cost. And even in the face of agonizing death, Jesus lifts us out of our misery and restores our souls by offering the peace that passes all understanding.
