House of Kidz Posted: 24 Oct 2011 06:55 AM PDT House of Kidz by Colin Cohen You should be forewarned that this book is extraordinarily vulgar, without the slightest pretense of correctness. Even I have blushed at some of the language. If you are easily offended by humor of a sexual, scatological, or racial nature, please read no further. But I make no apologies for this. Although this is work of fiction, the situations and the language used in the book are quite reflective of the times upon which they’re based. – Colin Cohen, Author Jake Stein is a rebellious cynic when he enters his freshman year at George Washington University in 1984, but soon changes as he befriends an unusual ensemble of drunks, womanizers, and other misfits. And after he is initiated into a colorful fraternity–one that is consumed by debauchery and eccentricity–he finds himself quickly growing into an entirely different man than the one he aspired to become. Colin Cohen’s House of Kidz is an allegory of the 1980s, with all its excess, amorality, and unadulterated good times; it is a tribute to the fraternity experience and a testament to the bold but ephemeral nature of youth. Borrowed Time Posted: 24 Oct 2011 06:30 AM PDT Borrowed Time by Emmy Jackson My sort-of boss Eddie let me slam down four fuzzy navels at dinner, and then handed me a ticket to go see Miss Saigon. Later, when I thought about it, I realized he might have gotten the ticket specifically to distract me in case I was pissed off about his having nearly gotten me killed the day before. It wasn’t too much of a stretch, considering that he made a living anticipating disasters-major and minor-like that. What he didn’t know was that he actually had gotten me killed. The Big Sleep Posted: 24 Oct 2011 06:25 AM PDT The Big Sleep by Paula Hopkins Description by the author – Paula Hopkins. This story features strong erotic and adult content. I have re-set Chandler’s story against a future background of decayed and anachronistic technology, in an artificial, domed habitat populated by cynical people and cheap cyborgs and antique robots, all orbiting a moon of Saturn. I have long had an immense fascination with novels of Raymond Chandler, having read most of them several times in adult life. Nevertheless they do seem a little dated when read in the twenty-first century – they were originally written in the 1930s and 1940s – with incidents and descriptions severely constrained by the social conventions of the time. So, here is The Big Sleep, my own tribute to the life and works of the late great Mr. Chandler, and closely based on his novel of the same name. But be warned, I have not felt myself to be as constrained by social conventions as Mr. Chandler was required to be, so expect a powerful dramatic and erotic experience.
