Princess Etheria and the Battling Bucks Posted: 02 Aug 2011 04:04 AM PDT Princess Etheria and the Battling Bucks by Dwayne R. James Princess Etheria and the Battling Bucks is a philosophical fairy tale that takes the wonder of magic from ‘Harry Potter’, mixes it with the attractive nature of the Universe from ‘The Secret’, and places it all in an enchanted forest right out of Disney or Narnia. Aimed at an adult audience both young and old, the fairy tale engages the reader’s imagination by promising them that, since this particular enchanted forest exists in a world of dreams, it is actually accessible to each and every one of us. In fact, in the introduction, the narrator even goes so far as to tell the reader that this forest is different from all other fantasy realms, because it’s the only one… that you’ve actually visited yourself’. In the story, Princess Etheria is confronted with a challenge, that of separating two buck deer whose antlers have become hopelessly entwined by a bitter argument that has spanned centuries. As she works on figuring out how to disentangle the combatants, the Princess must reflect on the lessons that her father, the King, has taught her over the years, and, in so doing, unlock her own true magical potential. In the process, she discovers such things as:
Her solution to the conflict is wholly original. The magic words that she ultimately finds are sure to transform your own life, and change your world as well, just like magic.

Fusing the traditional with the contemporary, citing inspiration from hip hop urban lyrical poetry the poet grew up with, this delightful collection is a pleasure to read.

Biosensors – Emerging Materials and Applications by Pier Andrea Serra A biosensor is a detecting device that combines a transducer with a biologically sensitive and selective component. Biosensors can measure compounds present in the environment, chemical processes, food and human body at low cost if compared with traditional analytical techniques. This book covers a wide range of aspects and issues related to biosensor technology, bringing together researchers from 19 different countries. The book consists of 27 chapters written by 106 authors and divided in three sections: Biosensors Technology and Materials, Biosensors for Health and Biosensors for Environment and Biosecurity.
Environmental Biosensors by Vernon Somerset This book is a collection of contributions from leading specialists on the topic of biosensors for health, environment and biosecurity. It is divided into three sections with headings of current trends and developments; materials design and developments; and detection and monitoring. In the section on current trends and developments, topics such as biosensor applications for environmental and water monitoring, agro-industry applications, and trends in the detection of nerve agents and pesticides are discussed. The section on materials design and developments deals with topics on new materials for biosensor construction, polymer-based microsystems, silicon and silicon-related surfaces for biosensor applications, including hybrid film biosensor systems. Finally, in the detection and monitoring section, the specific topics covered deal with enzyme-based biosensors for phenol detection, ultra-sensitive fluorescence sensors, the determination of biochemical oxygen demand, and sensors for pharmaceutical and environmental analysis.
Air Quality Monitoring, Assessment and Management by Nicolás A. Mazzeo Human beings need to breathe oxygen diluted in certain quantity of inert gas for living. In the atmosphere, there is a gas mixture of, mainly, oxygen and nitrogen, in appropriate proportions. However, the air also contains other gases, vapours and aerosols that humans incorporate when breathing and whose composition and concentration vary spatially. Some of these are physiologically inert. Air pollution has become a problem of major concern in the last few decades as it has caused negative effects on human health, nature and properties. This book presents the results of research studies carried out by international researchers in seventeen chapters which can be grouped into two main sections: a) air quality monitoring and b) air quality assessment and management, and serves as a source of material for all those involved in the field, whether as a student, scientific researcher, industrialist, consultant, or government agency with responsibility in this area.
